Landers, Nathan

Nathan Landers

Founders Cemetery, Marker #49

(~1814-1850)

Nathan was born about 1814 and died 25 June 1850 at the age of 35, the son of Jabez and Abigail (Corning) Landers who are also buried in the Free Will Cemetery, as is his sister Elizabeth. Nathan’s parents were still living when he died. He married 1st Eleanor MacKenzie, daughter of Alexander and Mary (Sollows) Mackenze. They had an un-named child who died in infancy. Eleanor’s death may have been related to the birth of that child. Nathan married 2nd Almira Goudey, daughter of Stephen and Mary (Haskell) Goudey. Nathan and Almira had two sons: Wentworth and William. After Nathan died Almira married two more times. We do not know Almira’s place of burial or that of Eleanor and her infant child.

Nathan is the great grandson of Sealed Landers—one of the first settlers in Yarmouth Township—who built a grist mill at the site of the present dam in Milton (Yarmouth North).

More about Nathan, his wives, children, parents, and siblings appears in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.
