Ruth was born 1 Jan 1795 and died of “cancer of the stomach” in Brookville (now Woodvale), Digby County 14 April 1868 (death record) or 15 April 1868 (grave marker). She lived in Hartford (now Wellington), Yarmouth County where she married George Moses on 15 Dec 1868. They had two sons. Ruth’s husband George is a brother of Zilpha (Moses) Crosby who is buried in Founders Cemetery and also a brother of Thomas Moses who married Mary Crosby who is also buried in Founders Cemetery. Zilpha married Robert Crosby who is a brother of Mary.
Ruth married 2nd, as his 2nd wife, Thomas O’Brien, who outlived her and is buried next to her. Ruth and Thomas had three known children. We do not know the date of either of Ruth’s marriages nor the date of death for her first husband.
Ruth is a daughter of Theophilus and Anna (Brown) Crosby, both of whom died in Yarmouth Township. Their place of burial is not known. Among Ruth’s eight siblings was a brother Theophilus who is buried in Founders Cemetery.
Through her father Theophilus Ruth is a Mayflower descendant, being descended from Mayflower passenger, William Brewster.
