Formed the firm of Reuben M. Raymond & Sons, and built ships at Bartlett’s River, Digby County

Mary R., 1864, Abigail, 1866, schooner Ariel, 1867; launched ship Marion from their yard at Digby in 1876.

He was an active temperance worker and a prime mover in the erection of the Temperance Memorial Hall at Beaver River in 1880. In 1844 he wrote an interesting account of the Beaver River Fire.
