Perry, Thomas

Thomas Perry

Free Will Baptist Cemetery, Marker #23

(~1813-1873)

Thomas was born in Beaver River about 1813 and died of “slow fever” in Brookville (now Woodvale) 27 Oct 1873, age 60. He was the son of John and Sarah (Trask) Perry. His father is buried in Founders Cemetery. Thomas married Margaret Jane MacKenzie, daughter of William and Hannah (Corning) MacKenzie. We have not found where Margaret is buried. It is possible she married a second time.

Thomas, a mariner, lived in one of the oldest still existing houses in Port Maitland – number 2837 Highway 1, Port Maitland. Thomas owned that home from 1846 to 1886. The home later was owned by Captain Thomas Bingay, a Master Mariner.

Thomas is a Mayflower descendant. Through his father he is descended from Mayflower passengers John Alden and Richard Warren. Through his mother he is descended from Isaac Allerton.

More about Thomas, his children, parents and siblings will be found in the Old Stones Family Group Sheet Index.
