Goudey, Elizabeth B (Trask)

Elizabeth B (Trask) Goudey

Calvinist Baptist Cemetery, Marker #9

(~1838-1870)

Elizabeth was born about August 1838 in Richmond, Yarmouth County and died of consumption (tuberculosis) 8 February 1870 in Maitland (now Port Maitland), age 31 years, 6 months. She married 3 December 1859 Benjamin Harley Goudey. Following Elizabeth’s death Benjamin married Augusta Mary Bethune. He is buried in the Cedar Lake Cemetery.

Elizabeth was  the daughter of Jacob Trask and Edith Porter, and as such a descendant of the same William Knowlton a number of other residents in our cemeteries are also related to. She is also related to Lemeul Crosby, who was among the first settlers in the Barrington, N.S.  area, coming to there before 1762 from Massachusetts and moving to the Yarmouth area before 1770, living near the Zion Church. There is a brief reference to this family in Edwin Crowell’s History of Barrington Township.
